This is where I start to put all this together into something practical that will help me connect with the one reality. God created man in his own image. If God is the unmanifested, then I am a manifestation created out of the unmanifested. And I will eventually return to the unmanifested again.

Since man was created in God’s image, I have the ability to create manifestations myself. These are thoughts.

All this time listening to Eckhart Tolle preaching to calm your mind and eliminate the repetitive thought processes that are the root of all suffering – I thought that thinking was wrong. I completely missed the point – now I get it.

The Story of Adam and Eve – A Metaphor

Recently, I feel like I finally got the main point of the Adam and Eve story, so I thought I’d share my thoughts here. On the surface, the story goes kind of like this:

  1. God puts Adam in a paradise (Eden) and tells him that the only rule is he cannot eat this one apple from this one tree.
  2. Adam really wants to eat that apple, but he restrains himself. Good job, Adam, you are awesome.
  3. Enter the serpent (stage right) who is really the devil in disguise. “Hey, Adam, you really want that apple.”
  4. Adam caves in to the temptation, and he eats the apple (mmm, juicy).
  5. God walks in on Adam and reprimands him for eating the apple. “No paradise for you!”

My friend, Robert, had a dream where a spiritual guru visited him and spoke these words. After having the dream, Robert wrote this song, and now it is one of my favorite songs. I feel that these lyrics deserve their own post – the song is spiritual and meditative.

One of my friends brought up an interesting metaphor that really hit home for me, so I figured I would explore it here. Each of us controls a puppet – that is our body. You pull the strings – you make your puppet interact with other puppets. Through all of this, there is one thing you must always remember. You are not the puppet – you are the puppeteer.

Understanding the Unmanifested
